ServicesResidence C.Y.P. provides housing and support for adolescent (ages 15-18) boys and girls who are unable to live with a family and unprepared for independent living.
The program provides support to older adolescents (aged 16+) who are making the transition from Children’s Services to Adult Services or are leaving residential programs to live in the community. A service plan prepared by the client and the case manager will identify the need for educational or vocational assessment and training, need for housing and income support. There will be a commitment on the part of the client to continue formal education/training while working part-time or working full time. Many kids who graduate from the group home have a goal of pursuing post secondary education or training. Some become too old to live in the group home to the end of high school making graduation a difficult challenge. The Damian Neary Fund provides tangible and practical support to kids in the Transition Support Program who are living independently and working towards high school graduation. The expense of pursuing post secondary education can be overwhelming and many of our kids receive little or no financial support. Although they make tremendous strides in school while at C.Y.P. they are unable to compete for academic scholarships and bursaries due to deficits in their early schooling. The C.Y.P. Education and Development Fund offers encouragement and tangible support in the form of small grants to help former residents of the group home who are attending college, university or post secondary training programs. The kids may qualify for loans through OSAP to cover accommodation and tuition expenses. The grants we provide are a supplement which can be used to cover costs such as books, transportation and other expenses. ...more |
