Make a Donation

A charitable donation to Community Youth Programs is an investment in the kids who need our services. Your donation will help them become contributing members of the community.

We are a registered charity and non-profit corporation. Whether you are a business or individual, you can make a donation to the Community Youth Programs.

All donations are used solely to benefit the kids or the ongoing operation of the home. Donations may be designated to the Damian Neary Fund which is used to help former residents of the group home working towards high school graduation or the Education and Development Fund which helps former residents who are pursuing post secondary education or training.

Cash Donations

Cheques should be made payable to Community Youth Programs. A receipt for income tax purposes is issued for all monetary donations.

Making a Gift of Securities

The May 2, 2006 Federal Budget made it more attractive to make donations to charities. Donations of publicly listed securities to a registered charity are exempted from all capital gains taxation. By donating publicly traded shares to Community Youth Programs, you will not pay capital gains tax normally associated with such a disposition. This means that you receive a tax receipt for the full value of the shares but are NOT taxed on any gain. Donors of securities therefore do not need to take any capital gain into income.

Your charitable receipt will reflect the closing price of the shares on the date they are received in Community Youth Programs’ brokerage account. Eligible securities include shares, bonds, bills, warrants, futures, units in mutual trust funds and shares acquired through employee stock options listed on a Canadian stock exchange or on most foreign exchanges, such as New York, London, Tokyo and Nasdaq.

Complete the attached form and contact us for more information.

Note: Actual shares must be transferred to Community Youth Programs. If shares are sold and the proceeds are donated to C.Y.P., the enhanced tax benefits do not apply.
